About the Fund
Capital Area United Way has set up a Flood Relief and Recovery Fund to accept donations to support short-term and long-term efforts to provide relief and recovery related to the August 2016 floods in the 10 parish capital region.
This fund will be used solely for flood relief and recovery, and no portion of contributions will be used for overhead or administration. Every dollar contributed to the Capital Area United Way Flood Relief and Recovery Fund will be used to help those affected by the flooding in the region.
Capital Area United Way understands that recovery is a long-term effort, and will make every effort to raise funds to continue to support local needs to help the nonprofits and community members most impacted.
Capital Area United Way will distribute these funds in the following ways:
- Immediate response efforts
- Long-term recovery efforts
- Fill un-met needs
- Provide grants to our community partners and other nonprofit organizations providing direct services to assist with recovery
- Support other response and recovery efforts, as determined by Capital Area United Way’s Board of Directors, to support individuals and families affected by the flood
