Former LSU Baseball standout, Mikie Mahtook joins Matt in studio to discuss what he’s doing now that his season is over. Mahtook finished his season in Triple-A with the Toledo Mud Hens. How does Mahtook think his season went.
“I think my year went alright,” Mahtook said. “When I got sent down I told myself I was playing for my future.”
Analytics are now a big part of baseball. How does Mikie see analytics and how do they fit into his own game?
“I buy into it. I think the more information you have the better,” Mahtook said. “I think there has to be a nice mix with the old school baseball style and the analytics.”
How is Mikie spending his offseason now that he is home?
“Just working out, training and revamping my swing,” Mahtook said.
Mahtook’s former teammate, DJ LeMahieu is chasing some history in the majors. LeMahieu is seeking to become the first player in history to win the batting title in both the National League and the American League. DJ currently trails the White Sox’s Tim Anderson by four points.
“I think he’s gonna do it,” Mahtook said. “They are in the middle of a playoff run. DJ is going to be locked in.”
Mikie catches us up on what is going on with his foundation as well.
