Nolan Cain on LSU baseball’s opening weekend

Weekdays 7AM - 9AM

LSU Baseball Recruiting Coordinator Nolan Cain joined Jordy and T-Bob to talk about LSU’s opening weekend.

If this pitching staff is healthy it could one of the best, including Cole Henry.

“Last year he dominated a lot of big games for us,” Cain said. “He strikes out a lot of guys, which makes it easy on the defense.”

What has hitting coach Eddie Smith brought to the bats, so far?

“With Eddie, it’s just the clarity of a consistent message each day,” Cain said. “Not just emphasizing the two strike approach, but executing it each day.”

Zack Mathis is a guy who, coming in, is going to have a lot of pressure on him to produce early. What was the process of adding him to the roster?

“The situation with him was really late in the process,” Cain said. “He’s not a big guy or a great runner, but he can really, really hit.”

Nick Storz was highly touted coming in, but suffered some frustrating injuries. What’s his role now?

“He definitely starts out in the pen,” Cain said. “He’s a wild card.”
