College football analyst, Phil Steele joins Matt in his weekly spot to preview week 8 across the nation.
Florida at South Carolina
“Emotionally we are talking about a team in Florida who has their tank on empty. They had a big home game against Auburn, and then emptied all their chambers against LSU. Now they have to go on the road again to South Carolina,” Steele said. “I think you see South Carolina play it’s A ++ game for this home game, and now they’ve got belief they can contend in the SEC East. I think South Carolina is in a real good situation in this game at home.”
Does Steele believe the Gamecocks can pull the upset?
“I believe they could,” Steele said. “They are a team that is starting to believe in themselves.”
Oregon at Washington
“I do believe that Oregon can go on the road and get it,” Steele said. “Their defense is allowing just 260 yards per game.”
Arizona State at Utah
“With Utah, if you play this game on paper, I’m going to favor Utah by 17-20 points. So on paper give it to Utah easy,” Steele said. “I like Utah to win the game. They should win the game, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Arizona State made a game of this one.”
LSU at Mississippi State
“I think LSU is going to be capable going on the road, even in a sandwich spot. I mean coming off Florida with Auburn on deck, I can see why the line is where it is in this game. It’s going to be tough for LSU to get the cover just because it is a clear sandwich game,” Steele said.
Even though Steele thinks LSU could get off to a slow start, he still thinks they win the game.
“They question is whether they win it by 14, 21 or 24,” Steele said.
