Russ Mitchell previews Week 3 in the SEC…sorta.

Weekdays 3PM - 6PM

Russ Mitchell of collegefootballnews.com joins Matt to recap last week in the SEC, and preview the week ahead. Mitchell once again came away very impressed with LSU.

“Outside of the elite teams that you play this year that’s going to be one of better ones you play and you stroked ’em baby,” Mitchell said.

Mitchell was not impressed with Texas A&M however.

“Where was the spark outside of the defense,” Mitchell said. “It’s like Kellen Mond didn’t even show up until the second half.”

Tennessee has been the most disappointing team early this season in the SEC. Mitchell says he believes that Tennessee will fire Jeremy Pruitt before the end of the season. Mitchell also doesn’t rule out the possibility of Phillip Fulmer hiring himself as the interim head coach.

Mitchell is not interested in any games around the conference this weekend. Russ says if he wasn’t getting paid he wouldn’t watch any football  this weekend. This sparks a discussion on the scheduling formula.

Alabama is heading to South Carolina this weekend. Russ doesn’t see it as a challenge to the Tide.

“The spread is 25 points, and they are going to win by more than 25 points,” Mitchell said.

The best game of the weekend in conference is Kentucky vs. Florida. The Wildcats are trying to make it two in a row over the Gators.

“Kentucky has played Florida well over the last five years,” Mitchell said. “For Kentucky to win this game their offensive line has to stop Florida’s pass rush.”
