Former LSU Track stand out, now Saints wide receiver, joins Matt to talk about his Saints debut in their first preseason game. Matt begins the interview asking about the feeling of him making his first catch. Grayson is quick to point out that it was awesome, but more because it helped the team.
“It was amazing to help the team out in a 2 minute drive that ended with a score,” Grayson said.
Grayson never played one down at LSU opting instead to focus solely on running track. Would his journey have been different as a two-sport star? Does Grayson regret not playing football for the Tigers?
“I definitely wish I would’ve had a chance to suit up with those guys,” Grayson said.
Saints head coach, Sean Payton said after the first preseason game that the guys hit a wall. Grayson says he can definitely see that .
“In some ways, I think people were kind of tired, and just trying to get their legs back under them,” “It’s more mental than anything.”
Every young player has a ‘welcome to the NFL’ moment. Grayson is quick to recall his with a very well known player.
“I think going against Richard Sherman my first year and realizing how smart these guys are,” Grayson said.
Early in his career Grayson has goals of winning a championship of course, but his main goal goes a lot deeper than that.
“The goal is to just see how far I can go,” Grayson said. “It’s not about fullfilling your potential. It’s about fulfilling your purpose.”
