Southern University Athletics Director, Roman Banks joins Matt to kick off hour two of After Further Review to talk LSU moving their spring football game to Mumford Stadium. The game is being moved due to renovations with the Tiger Stadium field turf. How long have these talks been going on between LSU and Southern?
“We’ve been in conversation with them for over a month now,” Banks said. “We felt it could be a great opportunity for the two university’s to work together and unite the city of Baton Rouge.”
What are some of the logistics that have gone into moving the game?
“First thing we still have logistics to go over. We are just confirming it because of all the paper work with the waiver and the NCAA,” Banks said. “Now my team is working with their team to work out the rest of the logistics for the game on April 18th.”
Matt talks more of the logistics surrounding the LSU spring game at Southern. The week 2 XFL ratings are out.
Former LSU and NBA forward Stromile Swift joins Matt in his weekly spot to recap LSU’s loss to Kentucky. On a scale of 1 to 10 where is Swift’s level of worry regarding this LSU team?
“I’m at about a seven right now. We were on pace to looking like we were going to make some noise in the tournament,” Swift said. “These last 4 out of 5 games have been discouraging. I understand the frustration on the part of Coach Will Wade right now.”
LSU’s greatest struggles are on defense. Why do the Tigers’ struggle so mightly on D?
“It’s really odd because we play well in the zone. The energy and effort is there,” Swift said. “When we get into man-to-man these guards just blow right by us. We don’t have a true rim protecter. We lack the length and athleticism down low to really protect the rim.”
