AFR 3-12-2020 Hour 3 | Coronavirus impacts NBA & MLB

Weekdays 3PM - 6PM

Detriot Pistons point guard Langston Galloway joins Matt on AFR to talk the suspension of the NBA season. Galloway talks his reaction to the news last night.

“I was shocked, but at the same time this is something that is a fluid situation,” Galloway said. “I think everybody is just trying to figure out a way to keep it from spreading nationwide.”

Galloway’s Pistons played the Utah Jazz five days ago. Jazz center Rudy Gobert and guard Donovan Mitchell have since tested positive for coronavirus. Are the Pistons getting tested as a result?

“So right now it’s voluntary. If you are feeling bad you have to go in and get tested,” Galloway said. “If you aren’t feeling bad it’s voluntary.”

Dr. Jake Wood of the Baton Rouge General joins Matt in hour three of After Further Review, to talk the impact of coronavirus on the United States. Dr. Wood also gives advice on how to prevent the virus, and who should get tested.

Phillies outfielder Mikie Mahtook joins Matt in hour three of After Further Review to discuss the impact of coronavirus on the MLB. The league today announced that opening day will be pushed back at least two weeks. What was Mahtook’s reaction?

“It’s crazy stuff. I think we kind of expecting it to happen,” Mahtook said. “We found out after the game was over. As we were shaking hands the PA announcer came over the speaker, and said that spring training games have been canceled.”

What is Mahtook’s feeling on the decision?

“I think you had to do it. There’s just so much unknown with the virus,” Mahtook said. “There’s a lot we don’t know.”

The guys wrap up with What We Learned.
