In hour two of After Further Review, Matt is joined by senior LSU golfer Monica Dibildox to talk how the coronavirus has affected her and her teammates. What was the feeling when their season was canceled?
“Honestly, it was something 100 percent unexpected for us and disappointing as well,” Dibildox said. “We had a team meeting. The coaches talked to us about health being more important than golf at the moment.”
The NCAA is deciding whether or not to grant an extra year of eligibility to athletes who’s season’s where affected. Would Dibildox want to comeback for an extra year if offered?
“At this point of my life, we are touching into a deeper part of my life because as an international student you have to take into account visa,” Dibildox said. “Right now I would love to be a part of LSU for an extra year. I haven’t decided yet, and won’t until we hear from Commissioner Greg Sankey.”
Matt resets the latest with NFL Free Agency in segment two. Malcolm Jenkins is returning to the Saints. Former LSU offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth has resigned with the Rams. Former LSU safety Eric Reid today was released by the Panthers. Vonn Bell is a potential target for Carolina.
Former LSU and NBA forward Stromile Swift joins the show to talk the impact of coronavirus on college and NBA basketball. What was Swift’s reaction when the NBA suspended it’s season?
“I was a little bit shocked, but I wasn’t surprised,” Swift said. “With a major corporation like that and the people involved they can’t take the risk of allowing it to spread.”
How should the league appoarch the season if and when they can resume?
“I’ve been thinking about that. Man every scenario is so crazy,” Swift said. “Going into June you could probably play and not bother anything. Right now my opinion would be to start the playoffs right now. Whenever you can resume, just start the playoffs.”
