In hour two of After Further Review, Matt is joined by football insider Mike Detillier to talk the latest with the Saints and the NFL. The biggest news of the day is Saints head coach Sean Payton is now the first person in the NFL to test positive for the coronavirus. How does this affect the draft process?
“Well they weren’t doing a lot of work at the facility to begin with. They were kind of spread out,” Detillier said. “Sean will be quarantined for a while I’m sure. From what I’ve heard he’s doing better as of now. Sean’s the first of the NFL people to get it. He won’t be the first and he won’t be the last.”
The Saints are bringing Malcolm Jenkins back to New Orleans after a stint in Philly. What does Detillier make of the news?
“I know how much Sean liked him. He has made no ifs, ands or buts that it was the worst decision he ever made to get rid of him,” Detillier said. “I think the biggest asset that Malcolm Jenkins brings to the table is his ability to communicate. He’s a chirpper. I think Sean wanted to get a veteran in there.”
Detillier gives his take on Drew Brees’ new deal with the Saints, Tom Brady heading to Tampa and more.
The hour wraps with listener questions for Detillier during “Ask Mike.”
