The New Orleans Pelicans head to Sacramento tonight for a game with the Kings. ESPN’s Andrew Lopez joins Matt to preview the game, and also talk the impact of CoronaVirus on the NBA. Is the NBA going to play games in empty arenas?
“We are certainly trending towards that now,” Lopez said. “The Golden State Warriors have already announced they are out on fans. Adrian Wojnarowski just tweeted that the NBA is looking for ways to move forward without canceling the season as a whole.”
Lopez is a guy who is on a plane and in NBA arenas all the time. Does he feel in danger?
“I don’t want to say I feel in danger, but I have seen myself, the teams, arena workers start taking more prevenative measures,” Lopez said. “It’s a real thing, and players are starting to figure it out.”
On the floor this is a huge game for New Orleans because the Kings are also fighting for the 8 seed in the West. How do the Pels and Kings matchup?
“This one is a good matchup. The only other time they have played this year the Pels blew a huge lead,” Lopez said. “This is a game that the Pels should win. They are the favorite. Your starting lineup has been really good. It’s the second best starting lineup in the NBA based on NET ranking. The other thing is they have been crushing under .500 teams.”
