Beth Torina talks her 500th win

Weekdays 3PM - 6PM

LSU Softball head coach Beth Torina joins Matt to kick off hour three of After Further Review. Coach Torina won her 500th game over the weekend. What was that accomplishment been like?

“Yeah, it’s been really cool,” Torina said. “It just makes me think of all the women that have played in those games. It’s been a really neat thing.”

Senior right hander Maribeth Gorsuch threw the first 7 inning perfect game in LSU history in a 4-0 win over Belmont. Torina talks her ace’s accomplishment.

“What a beautifully pitched game,” Torina said. “It was an awesome thing to be a part of. Even better than the perfect game. Have you ever heard of someone throwing 21 first pitch strikes?”

What is going to be the strength of this year’s Tiger Softball team?

“I think we are going to be well rounded. The coolest thing about our pitching staff right now is all four of our returners are throwing so well,” “I’d put them up against the best in the country.”

LSU is set to head out to Fullerton, Ca to play some of the best competition in the country this weekend. Torina previews the trip.

“Well we’ve gone out there for a lot of years. I like going out there because we have a lot of kids from out there,” “And of course our Tigers like to be challenged.”
