Beth Torina talks the impact of coronavirus on her program

Weekdays 3PM - 6PM

LSU Softball head coach Beth Torina joins Matt and Ryan to talk the last few days for her program. Coach Torina takes us through the last 24-36 hours for her and the team.

“I just left a team meeting with them, and it’s really been a crazy event. We were just playing South Alabama a few days ago, and it was normal,” Torina said. “We don’t really have a lot of answers, but nobody has a lot of answers at this time.”

The SEC today extended their suspension date on spring sports from March 30th to April 15th. It now includes games, practices, invidual workouts, etc. Can Torina have no contact with her team until April 15th?

“It sounds like it will be revaluated before that time,” Torina said. “But they are basically shutting down the softball facility on Monday. They won’t have much access.”

If the season can resume on April 15th, would that be something she is in favor of considering there is no WCWS to play for?

“I don’t know that I’ve made my decision on that yet,” Torina said. “And it’s never going to be Beth Torina’s choice. The one thing I want is to fight for the girls, and just let them know that it is an option.”
