LSU’s social media team is second to none when it comes it’s sport’s teams. LSU Associate Director of Creative and Digital Content, Brandon Berrio joins the show to give some insight on how the whole process works behind the scenes. The video put out this weekend of Joe Burrow running out of the tunnel has gone beyond viral. How did that idea come about?
“So going into the week we knew we wanted to capture his moment of running out of the tunnel one last time,” Berrio said. “We made sure we got everyone out of the way, and were able to capture it.”
How many people do they have on staff to make these videos possible?
“Right now we’ve got 15 to 20 people at least,” Berrio said. “We have one big group messages where we talk about everything we want to do. There’s a lot of hands. We’ve had a lot of success on social this season.”
The video of Burrow is nearing 9 million views. How does this compare to the other work the team puts out?
“Oh my. I mean during the game the video was at 1 million views,” Berrio said. “We’ve never had something like that. The closest thing was probably the video of Odell before the Bama game last year. That finished around 1 million.”
Some of the most popular content the social team puts out is the weekly football hype videos. Berrio takes us through the process of creating the videos.
“So Cody Worsham creates the script. He sends it to Will and Derek. Derek gets the narrator,” Berrio said. “It’s normally done for approval by Thursday. It’s a quick turnaround from script to video.”
Berrio also talks the impact these videos and graphics have on the recruiting trail.
