In hour three of After Further Review, Matt talks with Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle about the Astros apologies for the sign stealing scandal today. Rome talks what we all learned today after the statements.
“You learned that the players have some remorse, that’s something we didn’t know until today,” Rome said. “Any player who was on the 2017 team and is still on the team hadn’t spoken about this publicly.”
Does Rome buy it?
“I do cautiously. I’d be lying if I told you that they weren’t sticking to the script today. I bought some of it,” Rome said. “Carlos Correa spoke in great cander, and went off script.”
Will this bleed over and effect the team’s performance on the field?
“I don’t know. These guys get heckled in non sign stealing years, and they handle it well. They have never experienced this before,” Rome said. “I don’t think Jose Altuve is all of a sudden going to become a bad hitter because people yell at him and call him a cheater. These guys are elite.”
