SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic joins Off the Bench to talk football, starting with an encounter he had with Coach O at the SEC Championship.
“I left with one lasting impression from that game,” Cubelic said, “and that is… (Coach O said) that (my 2-year-old son’s) got a scholarship offer to LSU.”
There was another big observation to be seen on the field, Cubelic said.
“I think the takeaway you had to pay a little bit more attention to,” Cubelic said, “was seeing healthy (defensive players) on the field at the same time.”
That health is a massive benefit, Cubelic said.
“You don’t have to overload the box,” Cubelic said. “That is the ultimate luxury for a guy like Dave Aranda to have for the next month.”
There is one glaring flaw in the Tigers’ upcoming opponent, Cubelic said.
“(Oklahoma has) the most penalty yards in college football,” Cubelic said. “It’s a team discussion, and part of being a great team is understanding playing the kind of football that wins games. I have a hard time buying in to Oklahoma.”
