John Nabors of The Morning Rush on ESPN Arkansas joins the show to preview the LSU-Arkansas matchup from the other side. What is the vibe surrounding this game in Northwest Arkansas?
“I don’t even know if there is a vibe. Arkansas fans might not even watch this game,” Nabors said. “They are more focused on the coaching search. Arkansas fans are fully expecting a blow out by the LSU Tigers.”
What changes are interim coach Barry Luney making that could be different from what the Razorbacks have been doing this year?
“He’s keeping that pretty close to the vest,” Nabors said. “One thing he’s changing is the focus level. They aren’t playing any music at practice. He wants the focus to be totally on the game.”
Quarterback has been a revolving door for the Hogs. Who does Nabors expect to line up behind the center on Saturday night in Death Valley?
“I think it’s going to be K.J. Jefferson the freshman,” Nabors said. “He is a prototypical spread quarterback. The thought is if he stays for the next coach he will be the starting quarterback for years to come.”
Who is a realistic option to be the next head coach at Arkansas?
“Well what day is it? It seems like it’s someone new everyday,” Nabors said. “I think there are three names that would work for Arkansas. Number one is Mike Leach. One that gets thrown around that is a bit of a risk is Lane Kiffin. The last one is my out of the box hire. Sam Pitman, the offensive line coach at Georgia.”
Is Gus Malzahn a real candidate?
“The only way I see Gus Malzahn getting hired is one Auburn has to fire him because they aren’t paying any buyouts,” Nabors said. “Second they would have to have five or six candidates tell them no.”
