LSU Head Baseball Coach Paul Mainieri talked about watching DJ Lemahieu and Alex Bregman in the MLB All-Star game. He isn’t surprised by their success.
Also, Mainieri discussed the new addition to his staff, Eddie Smith. He thinks the kids will really respond to Smith andwill help the players reach their full hitting potential.
“I’ve known Eddie for 15 years. Eddie Smith was the Rudy of Notre Dame baseball. As I got to know Eddie I was really enamoured by his knowledge of the game. I had been recommending him as the Head Coach at Notre Dame.”
What are they doing about injuries?
“We’ve made some strength and conditioning changes. We’re bringing a lot of technology into the pitching area. We’re bringing in super slow motion cameras. Just being really conscious of what we’re doing and trying to keep these guys as healthy as possible.”
