Geaux247’s Shea Dixon joins Matt in hour one to talk LSU getting left at the alter today so to speak, with the commitment of defensive end, BJ Ojulari to Tennessee. LSU seemed to be the favorite going into today as Dixon explains.
“He had let some people know off the record, ‘hey LSU is in the driver seat,'” Dixon said. “And low and behold eight days later, he changed his mind.”
Dixon says LSU will continue to pursue Ojulari up until he signs. In regards to what type of player Ojulari is, Dixon compares him favorably to some key players already on the roster.
“A standup outside line backer, K’Lavon Chaisson, Ray Thornton…type,” Dixon said.
Dixon points out that LSU has couple guys committed in this position, but they are in search of more.
“We will continue to see that position be a priority,” Dixon said.
LSU’s 2020 class is a concensus top 3 in the nation, but the Tigers still have a few holes to fill. Dixon points to the positions of need and where the Tigers might look.
“I think that offensive tackle is the position I circle first,” Dixon said.
Dixon points to Marcus Dumerville out of Florida as a strong option at tackle. Shea also says LSU will consider taking another wide reciever and running back.
LSU defensive line coach, Dennis Johnson is out with an injury, and confined to a wheel chair, but can he still recruit?
“Yes he can. He won’t be on the road recruiting,” Dixon said. “His recruiting will be kind of what it was…calling kids on the phone…”
