Former LSU and NBA forward Stromile Swift joins Matt in his weekly spot to preview LSU’s trip to Florida tonight. This marks the second meeting between the Tigers and Gators this season. What are the benefits of playing a team twice?
“I think it gives you a little bit more perspective as to what the team wants to do,” Swift said. “It’s always good playing a team a second time because you can be more prepared.”
What memories does Swift have of playing in the O’Connell Center?
“It was always tough. The crowd was always energized. It seems like the Florida guys play better at home,” Swift said. “Every time I went there the arena was sold out. It always makes it harder for the opponent to come play there.”
Emmitt Williams came off the bench for the first time this season in the win over South Carolina on Saturday. Is this something that could continue to work down the stretch for LSU?
“Sometimes it works great. He’s good enough to be a starter, probably on any team in the SEC,” Swift said. “What happens is sometimes you have a guy on the team who brings so much energy that it gives the second unit a spark.”
