Will Wade on LSU basketball’s win against Texas A&M

Weekdays 7AM - 10AM

LSU Head Basketball Coach Will Wade joined Jordy and T-Bob to recap LSU basketball’s win over Texas A&M and the perfomance of his senior Skylar Mays.

“You knew he was going to play well and carry us home,” Wade said of his senior Skylar Mays. “Defensively, he really set the tone for us.”

Mays and Javonte Smart had a tough time against Florida, but both bounced back in the game against A&M on Saturday.

“I thought Javonte and Skylar both made excellent decisions out there on the court,” Wade said.

LSU is now tied for second place in the SEC. How does Wade feel about where the program is at according to his vision?

“You always want more, you always want to be better, but everything doesn’t happen over night,” Wade said. “This is the most wins in back to back seasons since ’86…’87…that’s like 35 years or so.”

Wade talked about how the fans like to complain about LSU’s strength of schedule when looking at seeding.

“We’re number 8th in the country in non-conference srength of schedule,” Wade said. “We didn’t win as many of them as we wanted to…but (the schedule) is one of the best in the country.”

LSU takes on Arkansas this week; how does Coach Wade feel about defending the Hogs?

“They’ve got a lot on the line, they’ll be playing with their backs against the wall,” Wade said. “Hopefully we go in there and don’t turn the ball over too much.”

Finally, they talked about the retirement of Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf’s jersey at halftime of their game.
